The December 2 & 3, 1993 meeting of the Board of Directors of the
Center for Indoor Air Research was convened at 9:00 a.m. by the Chairman,
Dr. A. W. Spears. The minutes of the June 17, 1993 Board of Directors
meeting were approved.
The Board unanimously approved the membership of Svenska Tobaks AB as a
Charter Member of CIAR.
The Board began discussing and voting to FUND or :NOT FUND each of the
following 14 proposals:
Abraham, University College London, "Estimation of Nasal Pungency and
Other Potencies for VOCs", NOT FUND.
Bean, Microbial Insights, Inc., "Quantitative Assessment of the

The Principal Investigators of the funded projects will be informed of
CIAR's decision and will be required to respond to the recommendations of
the Science Advisory Board and Board of Directors in the form of an
Addendum or revised proposal. Upon receipt of a satisfactory addendum,
the CIAR will begin contract negotiations with the responsible parties.
The next meeting of the BOD will be on February 23, 1994 in Stockholm,
Sweden.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, DeAmber 3, 1993.
