Regulations for tolerances and exemptions for residues of pesticide chemicals in or on raw agricultural commodities are defined and interpreted, procedures for filing petitions and for other legal and administrative steps are put forth, specific tolerances for individual pesticide chemicals are presented, and the handling of residue test data is directed. *Listings are given of categories and groups of raw foods and feeds according to perishability, relative timing for use of chemical, processing of the commodity, and fate of the chemicals (including introduction to other stages in the food chain). Pesticide chemicals are classified into safe, deleterious, inert, and either having zero tolerances or being exempt from tolerances. The regulation calls for permanent or temporary certification of chemical usefulness and estimate of residue, for judicial review of petitions for exemptions, and for the amending or repealing of specific tolerances or exemptions when reasonable grounds action are developed.
