September 15, , 1943 235 A regular meeting of'the Executive Committee of P. Lorillard Company was held today at the office of the Company, 119 West 40th Street, N~ew York Ci:ty.. There were present Messrs.: G. H. Hummel H. A. Kent. G. D. Whitefield E. W'. Bowling W. J. Halley F. Hopewell H. F. Temple Todd Wool Mr. Hummel, Chairman, presided, and the Secretary acted as Secretary of the meeting. On motion duly made and seconded, the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting,was dispensed with. On motion of Mr. Hopewell, seconded by Mr. T'emple,, it was unanimously RESOLVED: That the action of the Executive Vice-President and the Treasurer of this Company in renewing on September 13, 1943., on behalf' of' thi:s Company, the loan made June 14, 1943r from The bew York Trust Company, 100 Broadway, New York City, in the sum of'Une Million Dollars ($1,000,000), and in executing,and' d'eliivering, in the name of' this Company its promissory note evidencing said' debt, bearing date of'September 13, 1943, and payable at said bank thirty (30) days from said date, with interest at the rate of Iz% per annum from said date, be and the same hereby is in all respects approved, ratified, and confirmed. On motion of' Mr. Halley,, seconded by Mr. Hopewell, it was unanimously RESOLVED: That the employment of Thomas Genovese as Inspector at the Old Gold Branch, at a salary at the rate of'$30 per week, effective September 3, 1943, be and the same hereby is in all respects approved, ratified, and confirmed. Bowling, seconded by Mr. 'Nhitefield, it was unanimously RESOLVED: That the following employments of salesmen, as listed belovr, with the authorization cf the Sales Dept. and the approval of two of the following: G.D. On motion of Mr. Hopewell, seconded by Mr. Halley, it was unanimously RESOLVED: That the increase in salary of George Cooper, Night Foreman at the Louisville Branch, from the rate of $30 per week, to the rate of $33' per week, effective September 16, 1943, being,incident to the terms of salary agreements or to established salary rate schedules covering work as- signments and in operation of'an established plan of salary increases based' upon merit and/or lengthlof service within established rate ranges, be and' the same hereby is in all respects approved, ratified, and conf irmed..
