A regular meeting of'the Executive Committee of P. Lorillard Company was
held today at the office of the Company, 119' West 40th Street, New York City.

In the absence of Mr. Hummel, Chairman, Mr. Kent, Presiid'ent,, presided,
and'the Assistant Secretary acted as Secretary of the meeting.
On motion duly made and seconded, the reading of the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting was diispensed with.
On motion of' Mr. Freeman, secondedby Mr. Hopewell, it was unanimously
RESOLVED: That the actionlof the Executive Vice-President and the
Treasurer of th3~:s Company inirenewing on January 11, 1943, on behalf of this Com-
pany, the loan made October 13, 1942, from the First National Bank of' Danville,
Danville, Vf irgiinia, in the sum of One Htandred Thousand Dollars ($100, 000 ) and in
executing and del.ivering,in the name of this Company its promissory note evidencing;
said debt,, bearing date of January 11, 1943, and!pa.yabie at said bank ninety (90)
days from said date, with interest at the rate of'1-ffl% per annum from said date, be
and the same hereby is in all respects approved, ratifiedi,, and confirmed.

pany, the loan made October 15, 1942, from the Guaranty Trust Company of'New York
140 Broadway, New York City,, in the sum of One Million Dollars (',$1, 000, 000) and in
executing and delivering in the name of this Company its promissory note evidencing
said debt, bearing date of January 13, 1943, and payable at said!bank ninety (90)
days fromsaid date, with interest at the rate of l-,'% per annum fromsaid date, be

Estimate #1 of' Lennen & M'itchell Inc. dated January 4, 1943, covering radio adver-
tising of FRIENDS Tobacco as therein set out, January 18 through April 17, 1943, at
a cost of 920,896.65..
Estimate #48 of Louis Kram Inc. ds.tedi January 5, 1943 covering advertising of OLD
GOLD Cigarettes in foreign language newspapers therein set out, January ll through
April 10, 1943, at a cost of $34,,382.97.
