label requirements and restrictions on advertising and
promotion of cigarettes in Japan, South 1Corea, Taiwan,
Hong long, China, Philippines, Tmdonesia, Belgium,
Saudi Arabfa' and Si'ngapore., This information was
suppli'edi to us princilpally by' INFOTAS, a serWice' to
w'hich~The Tobacco Institute lhas access. we hawe not
undertaken,any independent study to verifythis
information.
(2)' The I'nstitute does not have any i'nformation on the
level of "tar"'in cigarettes sold, in the countries
listed. If the Subcommittee wishes vs to do so, we
would be gladd to ask our member companiies to supply
the information requested in this area.
(3) Thr institute did not participate in the preparation
of the list of additi'~ves suppDied' to, the Surgeon.
General pursuant to, the requirements of the
Comprehensive Smoking Ed'ucation, Act of 198d', and does
not possess anyr information srith, respect toi the number
of additives on, the llist.
(4) We are enclosing copies of the Qertif'icate of'
