Inaugural Committee 19'81
Co-Chairmen: Charles Z. Wick

Dear
On behalf'of the PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURAL COMhSITTEE 198':1
I should very much like to ask your assistance in holding
the Inaugural Ceremonies for our newly elected United
States President Ronald Reagan andiV'i!ce-President George
Bush.'
As you may know, the Presidential Inaugural Committee 198'11
is authorized'by Federal Statute,, but is financed!on a
private enterprise basis. The Inaugurationiand its broad
and varied activities are paid for by revenue from the sale
of'ti'ckets to the inaugural parade,, balls, and other activities.
But this necessitates the immediate raising on albroad' basis
of a$3.51 million Guaranty Fund to support the operations of
the Inauguration,.
Therefore, the Inaugural Committee is requesting, your assistance,
along, with other civic leaders in America, in advancing betweea
$5,000 and $50,000' to the Presidential Inaugural Guaranty Fund.
The 1981 Inaugural Committee is of the opinion that, subject to,
unforeseen circumstances, Guaranty Fund subscribers will be
fully reimbursedi. Revenue income in all the Inaugurals of the
last five elections has been more than adequate to refund to
the subscribers the entire amount they advanced!to the Inaugural
Committee.
As the enclosed legal opinion clearly states, this is a non-
partisan public and civic function. Corporations and financial
institutions may legally support such a Guaranty Fund.
Your-support now on this important matter will be very much,
appreciated. Checks shouLd'be made payable to,: Presidential.
Inaugural Guaranty Fund 1981. They should be forwarded with
the attached subscription form, in the enclosed self-addressedd
envelope.
Awaiting your favorable reply,, I remain,,
Sincerely,
J. William Middend'orf,, II
Chairman
Presidential Inaugural 1981
Finance Committee
