Att the moment, Ami is completing a first draft of the.manuscript which wilil include the 10 subjects he studied. He estimated that he wouldibe able to send it to me in,Cleveland early next week. Vijay has studiedian additional 4'subjects who probably should be included in the manuscript if their data can be processed promptly. Vijay, Ami, and I have discussed t.lieform~of themanusc'ript at some~ length. I believe it is~fair to say that we are in general agreement that the results of'L ee Kendall should be included as well, since their inclusion would make for a much stronger paper. If you feel terribly strongly that Lee's results should be written up separately, and'if you can convince Ami and Vijay, I would not object. However since the idea of studying inhalationpatterns with magnetometry was mine, and' the major scientific directiomof this work was mine; and since my work in this field is (in my iaunodest opinion)regarded internationally as setting thee standard of excellence, I must insist upon having final approval of the manuscripts submitted. I realize that this departs from:your normal operating procedure; but I am sure:you appreciate that sYnce.we are writing about respiratory mechanics and'not pulmonary defense mechanisms, such a departure is appropriate.
