Huber Division of Respiratory Diseases Beth Israel Hospital 330 Brookline Avenue Boston, Massachusetts 02115 Dear Dr. Huber: I have reviewed your letter of June 13th in which you request authority concerning payment of expenses incurred for Project research performed by investigators of the Harvard School of Public Health. As I understand your letter, such'expenses incurred in the last quarter of this academic year (and properly chargeable against funds for the grant expiring August 31, 1977) may not be billed to you for several months after expiration,of the "old" grant. You would like permission to charge these expenses against the "new", renewal grant funds. Then, upon expiration of the "old" grant, transfer of remaining funds into the renewal grant account (#60-092-4717-2) would~have the effect of reimbursing the renewal grant for these expenses. If my understanding as stated is correct, you may pro- ceed in the manner suggested. Otherwise, call me (or Lee Stanford in my absence) and we can discuss handling the funds to accomplish the desired result.
