Stevens, Esquire Lorillard 666 Fifth Avenue New York, New York 10019 Dear Arthur: Inasmuch as our meeting this week has been postponed, I am responding to your letters of April 21 and 25 in writing. With reference to yours of the 21st, we are presently focusing on what specific recommendations to make to the industry with regard to the alleged abuses in advertising spoken of from time to time by certain Members of Congress and other public officials. It is a rather difficult area inasmuch as some of the criticisms are the results of subjective observations and are not generally perceived by public officials across the board. At any rate, we are determined to do our best and will report at our next meeting. With reference to your letter of the 25th, C&B is presently preparing comments in support of the CAB's proposal that any airline passenger requesting a no smoking seat must arrive at the boarding gate at least five minutes prior to departure. We had planned to circulate a draft of the comments at the meeting of the Committee of Counsel which has been postponed.
