'I°ie rran who was fined in Dane County Court (ast week for smoking
in a grocery store last February quit the weed beore his appearance
before Judge William D. Byrne.
. Appearing before Byrne, Bruce Finger. who was ffned $15 after his no
contest plea to the cttarge, told the judge that he entered Kohl's ba Park
Street with a cigaret, not reaiizing he had it. when a woman accosted
hirn: saytn& "Can't you see that sign?"

Finger told the judge the wotma was "nose-to-nose" with hirfz and
vehement and demanded: "You put that out right away."
Finger said in court t,hat although be believes in non-smokers'
righLs, he took offense at the woman's demand and took a couple more
puffs on his cigaret. The woman called the maaager over and on her
' complaint he called the police, Finger e:plainei. The woman demanded
Finger be arrested.
"Since that time." Finger told Judge Byrne, "I've given up
smkng. "
