Our providing a space in the Dubai and other Inter-Continental's for those who wish to be isolated from tobacco products is one of resnonding to a clear indication of custonp`r wishes. We are not offering "preferential" treatznent, sinply an additional choice applicable to some guestroons. Just as a guest should be able to choose between a room with a double bed or a twin bed, so it now appears that he would like to choose a room or a section of the hotel in which other strokers, or other non-sirokers, have been or are located. I am not in a position to have the data which you have available on the subject of tobacco consumption, and I do not doubt that those who vocalize their concern about their "right" to be isolated from tobacco smcke are indeed a minority. Hawever, from my own experience as a very frequent traveller, it is quite clear that a significant rrajority of my co-travellers regularly and vigourously choose non-smoking areas of aircraft and railway trains. This is a fact which we as suppliers of hospitality services cannot and do not ignore. Of course smokers are welcome at all Inter-Continentals, and no doubt always will be. HGS/mk E) G.
