Twice, the voters of Kern County have rejected statewide measures on the subject of smoking. Measure A, like the two previous ballot measures rejected by the voters, is simply too expensive. The taxpayers would have to pay the bill in the form of higher prices or through taxes or, in all probability, both. Measure A is not necessary! Voluntary compliance, common courtesy, and present Health & Safety and Fire Codes are already UNIFORMLY dealing with this issue. Smoking is prohibited on buses, in elevators, in doctor's offices, non-smoking sections of restaurants and other public places. Measure A will add nothing but confusion for all those in unincorporated areas. Simply put, Measure A is unnecessary. on Measure ~ ~ u ~ 0
