TAN'COMMUNICATIONS
1. Area Directors will maintain face-to-face contact as
frequently as possible with all levels of Activists as
they travel about their states. Special efforts will be
made to provide information to and' hold training meetings
with all Activists utilizing TI spokespersons and other
industry specialists when they are available in various
areas.
*2. Print communications will consist of the following:
a) Special Federal issue briefing and information papers
will be prepared by Federal Relations Divisionfor
Level I Activists.
A TAN Activist newsletter containing general
legislative information, activities by various TAN
state organizations and individual recognition for
exceptional-work will be issued quarterly to Levels
I, II & III. Area Directors must provide "raw .
material"; Public Relations staff will prepare news-
letters; Production Services will publish and
distribute them.
c) Regularly updated~ issue and briefing papers on all
major issues will be prepared for Levels I, II, III
and IV'. Public Relations staff will write these, for
reproduction and distribution by Production Services.
d) Legislative bulletins will be issued to Levels I, II
and III on an~as needed'basis'by Area Directors to
report pending legislation, TAN mobilizations in
progress, and~outcome, and results of such
activities.
The Tobacco Observer will continue to be sent to
Levels I, II, III, IV on a bi-monthly basis, by the
Public Relations staff.
f) Mobilization Action Requests, as dictated by national
and local situations, will be sent to Levels I, II,
III and IV, by the State Activities staff.
* Note: In order to insure that each TAN Activist and TAN
member is receiving comparable and consistent
communications, TAN prefers to communicate directly
with all volunteers. However, some companies may O
wish to tailor this communications proposal to their ci
own need and preferences for distribution. In such ~
cases, the Institute will forego those segments of C1t
the distribution and make the "raw material" avail- -1
able to the companies instead. p,
