OF MICROBIOLOGICAL ASSOCIATES CONTRACT
PROPOSALS
Following the visit by the SAB Task Force and
staff to.Bethesda regarding status of Microbiological
to MA with regard to the MA proposals for the contract
SAB and staff, CTR has now proposed the following action

year Juliy 1, 1978 through,June 30, 1i979:
CTR would like to continue, subject to

(iv) In vitro studies to develop model
assays to evaluate possible promotional features
(ii) Studies of biochemical markers such

those using,DI3A damage assays. 4.'

titation of possible carcinogenic metabolites in
mouse urine as a lead to bladder cancer.
(v) Whole smoke experiments testing the
immune system's prevention of lung!eancer and the
susceptibility to lung cancer as alfunction of age.
(vi) In the area of so-called 10initiation"
studies, studies aimed at evaluating the initiating
capacity of whole cigarette smoke condensate and its

various fractions by variations of Ames-type tests.

studies comparing the potential of whole ciiga-
