As you know, a dangerous public policy question is on our November ballot.. It instructs our legislators to vote to establish segregatedi smoking, and non-smoking areas irn all public places. We don't need these res'tricti~ons.. Freedom is.worn away by degrees -- little by little.. Wbuld fines be levied for smoking,i:n the wrong place? Yes. Here are some of the places where segregated smoking and non-smoking areas would be required: At work At ba]Iigames On sidewalks In shopping malls In.parks In offices In.hoteI lobbies In automobile show roams In reall estate offices In barber shops In.beauty shops In newspaper city rooms In.liquor stores In airports In appliance stores In union hiring halls In repair shops In record shops In sports arenas'~ In bus andd tra.in..stati.ons. In laund'romats In bowling alleys In trading stamp~centers In banks In insurance and security In savings and loan offices brokers offices This would be a bad law:' It IS discriminatory. It would cost too much for compliance and enforcement.. It would dilute law enforce- ment efforts.from seriouss crimes. Ir would damagee the state's'.busin.essclimate. It would be anm infringement on everyone's civil Iiberties.. It would waste everyone's tax dollars. Its time to stop the modern-day prohibitionists. Please remember to go to the polls on election day, November 7th, and vote NO on this public policy question. Stephen Elmont Chairman
