Project Status Report

Two candidates (Code 618 and 381) were market researched
against Winston Lights and Merit. The top line results of
the study are as follows:
Acceptable Rating

As can be seen, there was no significant difference in
the acceptability of the two candidates versus the competitive
brands. However, there is a statistical inference that Code
618 is the more acceptable of the two prototypes.
Flavor modifications are now being made to enhance the
acceptability of the Code 618 product by giving it a more
full-flavored character and making it slightly smoother.
True 100 (8 mg)
Currently, the True 100 (8 mg) non-True type is in test
market. _
New Flavor and Sensation
The prototype that is generating the most interest in-
ternally is a 3 mg Lemon-mint product. All evaluations to
date have been with lab samples. The taste character of this
product has been stable for approximately three weeks which
is much longer than previous samples of this type. Machine
made samples are being made for extended stability and taste
studies.
Development work is continuing on both a Creme de Menthe
and mouth freshner prototype.

KGL 100 (8 mg) Non-Menthol
This product has been developed and is ready to be market
researched.
The internal panel results of the prototype versus current
production are as follows:

The construction for this product has been developed.
Currently, work is being conducted to develop the blend
and flavors.
