0 16 June 18, 1952 A regular meeting of the Board of Directors of P, Lorill.ard Company " was held today at the office of the Company, 119 West 40th Street, New York City. There were present Messrs.: R. M. Ganger W. J. Halley F. Hopewell I. H. Peak-- D, A. Henderson F. G. Searle L. Gruber J. J. Blacknall A , Jame s M. E, Davley H. B, Parmele Todd Wool In the absence of the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Ganger, President, presided and the Secretary acted as Secretary of the meeting. On motion duly made and seconded., the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with, - - On motion of Mr. Henderson, seconded by Mr. Searle, it vas vnanimously RESOLVED: That the action of Mr. Robert M, Ganger, in entering into a contract d,ated May 12, 1952, between this Company and Nev York Universityj which has been duly presented to this meeting, whereby New York University- -Bellevue Medical Center agrees to carry out, scientific investigations uuder•- the direction of J. Murray Steele,` as-Investigator, on the effect of smoking KENT Cigarettes on the skin temperatures of fingers and toes as compared with two other filter-bearing cigarettes, at a cost of $2500.00, to be paid by this Company at the conclusion of the tests, all as more fully appears.from the terms of said agreement dated May 12, 1952, be and the same is hereby approved, rati- fied and confirmed in all respects. Mr. Ganger stated to the meeting that at a meeting of the Board of Directors held on March 20, 1952, an advertising and publicity budget and a sales promotion budget for the year 1952, for our filter-tip cigarette IMT, was adopted in the sum of $950,000., subject to review by the Board periodically during the ysar, to be allocated as follows: Advertis ing and public ity budget for 1952 $650, 000 . - Sales promotion budget for 1952 300,000. He further stated that he recommended at this time that the advertising and publicity budget and the salFspromotion budget for the year 1952, for the filter- tip cigarette KENT, should be fixed at a total expenditure of $1,193,000.00 to be allocated as fQllows: Advertising and publrclty budget for 1952 $828,000, Sales promotion budget for 1952 365,000. Thereupon, after full discussion, on motion of Mr. Dawley, seconded by Mr. Halley, it was unanimously RESOLVED: That the advertising and publicity budget and the sales promotion budget, for our filter-tip cigarette KENT, for the year 1952, as presented at 4 E
