The tar range would be 9ma. - 85's, 11mg. - 100's. Reasons for interest in this project are: a) lower tar and nicotine is the most desirable improvement for Kool, Salem & Newport smokers based on the Switching Study, b) low irritation is a known important need among all dis- satisfied smokers, c) there is no low tar equivalent to the 100% menthol lo-fi brands which control that segment, suggesting a possible gap, d) 1~8D conducted concept research directionally indicates an excellent conceptual fit between reduced irritation and reduced tar, e) 13/-of-_super-fi~• smokers, and 15% of super-fi prone in the same research preferred a concept offering that fit over "own brand."
