II ads (3 different strategies - 2 executions of each) will be evaluated in a newspaper portfolio of 21 ads, including three cigarette ads (1 Kent -;Micr. II ad, a Luke ad and l other Lorillard ad). A total of 1500 random cigarette smokers (250 in each of 6 cells) will be interviewed in a hi-traffic central location site in 6 markets. We project that we will have a total of 190 non-menthol smokers within each cell. The number of non-menthol smokers in each cell will be boosted-(by approximately 60) to a total of 250. Additionally, the sample will be half male/half female. Areas of questionning will encompass unaided awareness, elements recalled and communi- cation diagnostics. Specific questions will be added as needed. :~y Criteria For Analysis The total random group (without booster) will be analyzed separately from the total non-menthol group.
