Atotal of 450 telephone interviews will be completed with Kent smokers (200 control,
250 test cities).
Additionally, a total of 600 interviews will be conducted with competitive non-menthol
filter smokers in the test areas (200 in each area) all respondents will be 21 years
of age or over and smoke at'least one-half pack of cigarettes per day.
Two waves of interviewing will be completed, the first wave will be conducted prior
to the start of advertising (from ist of December - first week in January 1977) the
second wave will start approximately one month after the start of advertising (approxi-
mately 2/7/77)
Test Areas - Phoenix, Arizona; Portland, Maine and Portland, Oregon.
Control Areas - Seattle, Wash.; New Haven, Conn.
Key Criteria For Analysis
Primary areas of evaluation will encompass Kent advertising awareness & recall, degree
(j of erosion among'Kent franchise; degree of conversion to Kent from competition, aware-
ness of changes in Kent and attitudes towards Kent.
