I am advised that at the Montreal Tobacco Chemists'
Research Conference the FTC will have on exhibit its
CO testing machine. Perhaps you can ask a Lorillard
attendee to take a look at it - and let us have his
opinion/comments.
The Committee of Counsel has asked Allan Topol,
Tim Finnegan and a Lorillard scientific representative
to monitor the November 1 presentation by Pillsbury
and Merfield regarding the FTC machine, for purposes of
advising the Committee. Will you make such arrangements
and~coordinate a contact with Topol.
Finally, the Committee of Counsel has also asked
Tim Finnegan and!the Shook, Hardy office to constitute
a small sub-committee, with advice from you and other
Company research personnel, to consider the entire sub-
ject of CO testing. I trust I did not take too great a
liberty in volunteering your services. I, too, will be
involved with the sub-committee. We should await a
contact by Finnegan.
