Brown pigmentation and fatty infiltration of the tracheobronchial lymph nodes 12. Lymphoid and reticullum cell hyperplasia of the tracheobronchial lymph noees 13. Coronary arteriolosclerosis, slight 14. Fatty infilltration of the myocardium COMMEPJ!T This is a dog of the Enviro Control Series. (Code 67-PH0). The dog~ had smoked:for a periodl of 413 days during whiich time he had smoked 5,853 cigr3rettes. The dog was foundidead in hi, cage on October 5, 1978. The interesting finding;i.n this case are those of thrombi of recent origin in the right andlleft auricular appendages with showe, of emboli to all lobes of the lungs. Second!ay to the emboli, pulmonary i'nfarcts were present in the d~ifferent lobes of the lung. The other findings which are related to cigarette smoking are those of pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema as well as hasal cell, hyperplasia of a sligh t to moderate degree with slight to moderate atypism. The p!ulmonary infarction was occurred predomi1nately in the dogs which belonged to Code 67. It will be determined whether there are extraor dinary factors to explain the preponderance of pulmonary embolism and infarction in this group of dogs. As far as the relationship to cigarette smoking is concerned the changes of pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema and basal cell hyperplasia are of a slight to moderate degree.
