The doq smoked, for a period of 201 days. The dog was killed at this time. During this period of time the dog smoked 2641 c igarettes . The chancle s i n the 1 unq parenchyma as a resul t of smoking are those of a slight and in areas a slliclht to moderate pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema. There is also' a sli:ght degree of basal cell1 hyperplasia with slight to mod'erate atypism. In addition the changes in the pulmonary arterioles and coronary arteriol'es are those of a sllidht thickening. Thus one may conclude from these changes that the effects of cigarette smoking were slight in degree and at the most of a slight to moderate degree. When compared with the first smoking study at the end of 201 days the changes in this doq are far less than those which we previ'ously observed. : 0S ~D.
