Thank you for your fax which outlinedthe agenda for the meeting in Neuchatel
on Jan,20th.
There are two consultants, retained by Dr. Osdene, who are still carried in
the Richmond portion of the Corporate Scientific Affairs (Parrish) budget
whose work is clearly related to the primary issue:
Dr. Leo Abood, University of Rochester - Pharmacology of nicotine; nicotine
receptors in the brain, etc.
Dr. Philip Guzelian, Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth
University - genetic susceptibility to disease (human); debrisoquine
metabolism in relation to human disease.
Ilwill be prepared to discuss these consultants at the meeting.
Another consultant carried in our budget is Dr. Ragnar Rylander, University of
Gothenburg, Sweden. Although he has been a long-time consultant to PM
and has conducted research relevant to the primary issue, in recent years the
focus of Rylander's research has been ETS-related. I will also be prepared to
discuss Rylander's current work, although it will have less relevance to the
primary issue than that of Abood and Guzelian.
