PROJECT DERBY Group Brand Goodwill: Trademark Class: will be decided when brand name agreed under review Objective: ° To develop a U.K. manufactured product specifically designed for the American consumer, for the purpose of making a serious entry into the U.S.A. market. Status: Information has been gathered through Louisville, on U.S. attitudes to foreign products. A U.S. agency will be appointed and will be involved in the creation and design of this brand from the beginning. Mr. Short on his visit to U.S.A. will make preliminary enquiries while Mr. Haddon will do the same in the U.K. Note: Brand, packing and other specifications have not yet been decided. PROJECT CORNFIELD (B & H Special Menthol K.S.F.T. 10's & 20's H.L.) Gr. Br. Goodwill: A Trademark Class: under review 0b~ective: Status: Blend To put B.A.T. in a position to manufacture this brand for export from the U.K. At present supplies are bought from Gallahers Who are part of the Am. Tobacco Co. Design - Because the present desiGu from Gallahers is considered rather drab, proofs of 3 colourtreatments have been" prepared on 5 boards. MEC have decided to defer decision until the need for B.A.T. manufacture arises. The proofs submitted incorporate claus- ing and other alterations. - Samples 559 and 371 with different menthol loadings have been passed to Mr. Diprose for assessment. Goodwill: B Trademark Class: under review Objective: Redesign the pack which should appear modern and youthful and be adaptable to Long, King and Supersize. Status: Design Testing Blend: - Artwork has been prepared. Proofs are in hand in the U.K. for Long Size and in the U.S.A. for King Size. - The new design will be consumer tested in Panama, Mexico, Venezuela, Hong Kong and New Zealand against the c~rrent desiEn. Results are expected in June ~969. - A new blend brief will be written on the basis of: Blend and Smoke analyses of existing blends. Results expected in Nay 1969.
