Turino, Ni.D., College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University, New York, N.Y. "Chemical Basis of Tissue Destruction in Obstructive Lung Disease." Dr. Turino called on April 6 to inform us that Dr. Fierer woiul.d be leaving about September 1, 1976 to take a professorship at CrPightah University. He was one of the senior people on his request, an electron microscop-ist. The part that he was to take in the proposal was not a heavy one. He would be expected to monitor in part the amorphous component in the elastin complex. He said that he is contacting a recent Ph.D. who might woYk under the supervision of Dr. G'abrial Godman, Professor of Microbiology and Pathology. Godman would replace Fierer on the application. in addition, he is adding to the staff a resident in medicine who has had considerable experience with glucosoaminoglycans and who, after completing his residency, may come in on the program. He will be too busy this year to do much. I have known Gabe Godman for a good many years. He is an able em man and has a tremendous research background although I have seen little of his work during the past few years. Turino will be sending in the new curriculum vitae and changes in the application associated with the personnel changes. W.U.G. WUG:ek
