New application No. 1087 "Buccal absorntion of labelled nicotine in the anaesthetised cat from cigars as ce.apared to that from cigarettes." HISTORY Hazleton Laboratories Europe, Ltd. is successor to Tobacco Research Council Laboratories. Dr. Turner has been on the TRC staff for many years and collaborated with Dr. Alan K. Armitage in.much of the nicotine research carried out there. Dr. Armitage is now Scientific Director of the new organization. Their qualifications are shown in the attached documents which include curricula vitae and twelve reprints. Dr. Armitage sent C.T.R. a letter of inquiry,in January 1976, too late for consideration at our March SAB meeting. It was handled as Case No. 362 and by telephone vote, an application was encouraged. It was agreed that this would be considered at the next meeting of the Executive Committee, which has now been set for June 11. REQUEST The total request is for $18,500 and the time estimate for the entire study is four to five months; starting date -- 8eptember 1, 1976. DOCLR4ENTS SUBMITTED (attached) 1. Application received May 21, 1976 2. Brief CVs of Drs. Armitage, Turner, Houseman, MacDonald and of Mr. Hopper 3. Protocol for experiments 4. NOTE: The reprints are a11 worth reading as indicative of the kind of work that has been done under Dr. Armitage's direction and of the kinds of skills that have been developed. Please return amy of them vou ma not wish_to keen in vour files. Ap R.C.ti.
