NATIONAL CANCER ADVISORY BOARD SUBCOMMITTEES
For release in A.M. Papers Tuesday, April 17, 1973
BEW's National Cancer Institute today announced the membership of two
ad hoc subcommittees to review research programs conducted under the
National Cancer Program.
One subcommittee is reviewing overall research of the NCI Special
Virus Cancer Program and make recommendations for future virus-cancer
research.
The other subcommittee is reviewing a research program conducted by
Litton Bionetics, Inc., at the Frederick Cancer Research Center, Fort
Detrick, Frederick, Maryland. Litton's program performance will be examined
and recommendations made for further development of an advanced systems
laboratory at Frederick. This will scrve as a sophisticated resource
for experiments by visiting U.S. and foreign scientists.
Subcommittee members were selected by the National Cancer Advisory
Board, a group of 23 cancer experts appointed last year by President Nixon.
The Board advises and assists the Director of the National Cancer Institute
in administering the National Cancer Program.
