Stevens 1976 CONFIDENTIAL I have talked with Dr. Gary Huber, Dr. Rabkin and Dave Hardy concerning the Harvard project. A letter fxom IIr. Fluber generally describing his request for an extension is enclosed. Also enclosed is a Beth Israel memorandum on direct costs. We do anticipate having to make some overhead payment with regard to the present five-year funding as well as on the renewal, but cannot make a definite recommendation at this time. Dr. Huber will be out of the country until about June 1. Upon his return we will meet with him to develop further details concerning the requested extension. These will then be sent to you.for your consideration. 1W A copy of this letter, together with the material referred to, is being sent to the members of the Research Liaison Committee. It would be premature, in Dave's opinion, to set a meetir.g date to discuss this matter in depth. We ncod more ir.formatiorn from Dr. Huber first. Those of you, therefore, who may have marked the date of June 8 for a possible meeting may scrub it. ncwal, he told me that 11 .. PulNT1FF'S EXHIBIT 1906 .LL.,..,,.....,,... Dave and I very much appreciate the generally favorable attitudes toward continuing support e>:pressed by several of you. These indications are not, of course, binding on anyone but have enabled me to assure Dr. Huber and Dr. Rabkin of the industry's interest in discussing a renewal. We will keep you advised.
