THE COUNCIL FOR TOBACCO RESEARCH-U.S.A., INC. Memorandum To: D.J.F.Glenn and Staff From: D.H. Ford Re: Site visit with Dr. R. Palazzo, Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA July 10, 1990. Grant No.2725 entitled "Reactivation of isolated mitotic apparatus." Comment: Inasmuch as Dr. Palazzo had just started the program approved by the SAB for CTR support, this should not be construed as a real 'site visit,' but only a get aqainted chat inasmuch as I was already at the,1 MBL to visit with Dr. Sussman. Dr. Palazzo strikes one as being an eager and enthusiastic young investigator, who has a very broad background and array of research interests. He seems almost like one of the old time biologists with a clear understanding of chemistry, physiology, embryology, biology, etc. on which he has supperimposed a knowledge of modern investigative techniques. From my short one hour visit, I would judge that he is already well launched in the program now being supported by CTR. I will be very surprised if he does not provide information which further refines our understanding of mitosis. DHF
