Dear Tom:
I had my letter of resignation to Henry Ramm ready to be forwarded
through you, and accompanied by a note to you, when I received notice of
Loosli's resignation - not long after Cattell's. After the loss of Dr.
Wilson, Stanley Reimann and Little, and the current resignations, there
wou e none of the original S.A.B. but Jake., and it occurred to me that
critics may interpret all this as 'rats deserting a sinking ship,' so I
have held my letters up.
I have reached a reluctant conclusion that I am no longer fit,
physically or mentally, to serve usefully, and I don't want to be a
hanger-on. As I did when I asked to be relieved of the chairmanship, I
am now seeking your advice in timing my resignation. It would,`of course,
ease things a bit if I were given "emeritus rating," and kept in touch
with the course of operation of the S.A.B.
Awaiting your thoughtful advice, and with best wishes, I am
Sincerely,
Kenneth M. Lynch, M. D.

P.S.: Incidentally - and of course without egotism - I am sending herewith
a curriculum vitae of a frontier "ranch hand" (the term cowboy was not
used then). This was compiled by a request in 1970, and suspected of
having been in preparation for an obituary. I advise you to digest it at
leisure, if you have any.
Enclosure K. M. L.
