Schlitz Brewing Co. will present "Schlitz Salutes Black Broadway." The program will be a once-in-a-lifetlme celebration of great black artists on the Great White Way. Bobby Short will host a fabulous evening featuring Betty Allen, Euble Blake, John W. Bubbles, Diahann Carroll, Nell Carter, Honi Coles, Adelaide Hall, Herb Jef- fries, Mabel Mercer, Edith Wilson and the Dick Hyman Orchestra featuring: Eddie Barefield, & Eddie Bert, Panama Francis, Haywood Henry, Milt Hinton, Lawrence Lucie, Jimmy Maxwell, Benny Morton, Norris Turney, Frank Wess, Joe Wilder, Francis Williams and many others. A fantastic era that had its bold beginnings in the turn of the century shows of Williams and Walker and four decades later reached a crescendo of excitement in the unforgettable artistry of Waller and Ellington will be brilliantly resurrected. Diahann Carroll will salute the career of the incomparable Ethel Waters. Mabel Mercer will recall songs made famous by the legendary Florence Mills. Honi Coles will give a rousing dance tribute to Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. Bobby Short will toast the heyday of the Cotton Club. Nell Carter will offer a spirited medley from the current Broadway smash Ain't Misbehavin'. Betty Allen will perform from Scott Joplin's Tremonlsha. 96-year-old phenomenon Euble Blake will play the music hew rote for his epochal show Shuffle Alon~. And singing the songs they introduced and made famous in Lew Leslie's ! Blackbirds, Hot Chocolates and Jump foK Joy respectively will be the remarkable Adelaide Hall, Edith Wilson and Herb Jeffries. ' This concert is produced by Robert Kimball and Bobby Short.
