Daigle SUBJECT: ETC Testing I have been advised by Mr. Harold Pillsbury that testing on the present market sample has been terminated. Currently, he is making smoking comparisons between his old smoking machine and his new CO smoking machine. This comparison is based on monitor cigarettes. Many reasons were given for terminating the market sample testing; he could not complete this sample and also supply CO data by June, this sample is one year old and therefore not representative of the current alarketplace, and it would be necessary to go back and resample from the original packs to complete the testing. However, he indicated he would resume testing if instructed by his superiors. Companies desiring to use "tar" and nicotine scores based on their own or TITL data may do so, Questions regarding this should be directed to Mr. Russell Hatchl of the Federal Trade Cormnission. ~illiam P.
