lq~IVILEG~D AND P~duced as required by the C°~" ~'- State of Minnes~la, el Cou~t File L TOt Senator Clements FROMt M~. William Kloepfer, Jr. As you-know, the cuEren~ advertising project and its cost (approxi-" mately- $68,000) was approved by General Counsel for the four prinuipal Institute members, as a "special project" of the sort foze~ast in the footnote in our budget which pointed out that no special projects were being b~dgeted--that they'd be subject to future proposals. ~ Following yo~r general okay. on the ad and the insertion schedules, I signed approval of the latter, then alerted Mrs. Golden that we woul~ be subject to these billings. Accordingly, to prepare what- ever suggestion to you would ~e necessary, looking toward appropriate amendment of the budget, she consulted with Mr. Temko on procedure. I understand he has advised that the amendment could be subject to informal submission to the Executive Committee. During next week I will be advised of the mechanical costs of pEep~ation of the advertisements. While the space ~osts will be identified in the aatual billings, it appears from the estimate that these will be approximately $63,850.11. Mrs. Golden tells me you wished to have the above information prior to the March 3 General Counsel meeting. ~Jg cct Mrs. Golden CONFIDENTIAL: ' MINNESQTA TOBACCO LITIGATION TIMN 253001
