Position on Byssinosis
To: Max Crohn From:

C. A. Tucker~
The attached memo from Virgil McBride spells out some serious new dimensions
in the byssinosis controversy. It adds a great deal of urgency to our earlier
discussions Concerning an RJR position that could be delivered as a personal
message by either Paul Sticht or Joe Abely to our friend Klopman a.t Burlington
(in response to his letter to the editor).
That's still important, but the controversy goes much deeper. It's now
surfaced a~ an aaministrative/legislative matter in Raleigh. ! agree with
Virgil that our positioning and strategies need immediate attention. We
must have things clearly thought through before the General Assembly convenes
on June 5. It is our accountability to orchestrate this, but first we need
some sheet music to put in front of the players.
May I please hear from you as soon as possible. Thank you.
