Abstract
Recommends Soloff (Temple University Health Sciences Center) for a one-year Council for Tobacco Research (CTR) Special Project grant to purify an enzyme and produce its antibody generated through previous CTR grant "Immunoassay of Lecithin Cholesterol Acyltransferase [LCAT] after Eating and Smoking in Health and Atherosclerosis". Indicates LCAT "is fundamental to the integration of fat metabolism". Requests "responses as early as possible". Includes note in marginalia.

This is a. request for a one-year special ~roject (July I,
1980-June 30, 1981): in the sum of $4:~,9i0.00' as support for the
work of Dr.. Lou~s A. Soloff, 2rofessor of ~dicine at the Temple
University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Soloff has been. workinq through a CTR Research Grant
on a project entitled "I~;munoassav of Lecitihin Cholesterol
Acyltransferase after Eating~ and ~mohinq in Health and Athero-
sc!erosis." He has recently achieved near purification o~ LCAT,
an enzl~c.,e %:hich is fund:amental to the inteqration of fat metabolism.
Dr. Robert Eockett of CTR feels that Dr. Soioff should be able to
further purify this very important enzyme and produce an antibody.
After discussion ~ith D~. Sol0ff and others%;~e have con-
cluded that the LCAT work is worth~, of support.
