Wh,ile you may have, already received it from some other source, I also enclose a copy of a February 1 article from, In.ternal Medlicine News on the A/hAS program held in Philad~elphia during December of last year. The work which Dr. Theodor Sterling has been doing in connection with, air pollution, became un,u,sua~lly valuable following the President's transmission on January 31 of an air pollution, message to. Congress, which you ha~e received, that attempted to implicate cigarette smoking.in 95% o6 lung can:cer and 90% of chron,ic obstructive lung disease. Dr. Sterling has consulted with u~s in connection~ with this. message and has a:iso, at Jiack Mills request, at- tended mee£in,gs in Wash,ington. We wou,ld like for him to have every opportunity to continue his work in this area and he has recently submitted a~ request to us to help fund a
