-2- INTRODUCTION This report is a coumentary on an initial inspection of the Project I~CBRA data and is based upon the set of computer Eenerated tabulations ~Ipplied by Ensland, Grosse and Associates Limited. Detailed analysis, ~cludins su~-sroup profiling and factor analytic atudles, and consideration ~! the psychographic data, will be presented in subsequent reports. The ~D~esmntat£on wh£ch follows is baaed upon the top-1£ne analysis only and '~hould be resarded as a preliminary exmnlnatlon rather, than • definitive r~terpretarion of the LIBRA dace. FollowlnS discussions wlth E.G.A. Ltd., it was decided that, rather ~:han setclns the top-llne sorts on the traditional demoEraphic bases, ~hs majority of the classifications would be dsr£v~d from cacesories pertinent to the overall objectives of the study. Thus, the principal c atesor£as used for analysis at this erase included, for smokers, desree c.~ consonance/dissonance| for ex-smokers, recent and more established e=-smokers are differentiated. ~uesc iounalre Admln£ straCion Details of the quescionna£re content and structure were descr£bed i x~ an earlier report (1). The carSec quotas for Project LIBRA were derived ~rom the recent Operation &~JAEIUS (2) and s comparison of the Career with the achieved sample distributions is shown in Table I. InCarvieviug was conducted in 100 sampli~4 points spread throushouc t:hm U.K. and selected on a representative basis proporClonal to the population. a I Co LTD - MINN~TA TOBACCO LITIGATION t..r', O'..
