the panel Rra 8enataLly lo~ than when the sums e~Ka~ettes were smoked
by a standard 8moklnK maeh£na to che standard 8moklnK conditions. This
difference has been attributed to the ray in u~Lch the human subjects
smoked the cigarettes. From the results of the ~ e~perimant (L) it
was observed that £mnaLs smokers t~sd to have L~ TPH to nicotine
ratios than male s~bjects and that senerally there are dLfferences
between the' way in which male and female sub~ecu smoke c£sarettes.
The female smokers tended to take more puffs of smaLLer volume per puff
8t mort frequent £nte~wsls than male smokers. The peak flow rates of
the in~£v/~ual puffs taken b7 female smokers tended to be lower and the
r£sLus edge of the puff profile sharper than those taken by male smokers.
