Subject: TSNA in MS of overcased MLK
TSNA's were determined in MS of regular MLK and MLK with 10% or
20% BU overcasing since it was assumed that BU casing and
treatment could influence the TSNA delivery.
The cigarettes were produced in the context of the Process
Development project ROUGE and had following amounts of BU casing:
Prototype BU casing
002P regular
001P 10% overcasing
003P 25% overcasing
Analytical results of these cigarettes delivered by the Smoking
lab are shown in Tab. 1. No differences can be seen in the values
from one cigarette to the other.
MS-TSNA values are shown in Tab. 2. No clear difference can be
seen between the TSNA's of the regular MLK and the overcased. A
tendency to higher values with overcasing might be seen expressed
by the increase of TSNA's from 002P to 003P. The TA's of the
three cigarettes, however, show the same pattern as the TSNA's
and the differences in the TSNA values can probably be explained
through this.
These results indicate that TSNA's in MS are not influenced by BU
casing.
